It takes several diplomas, certificates and degrees, supplemented by years of practical experience, to deliver the range of supports we offer in such a variety of settings. Click on the links below to read a brief introduction and summary of skills and qualifications.

In addition to these basic capabilities, all staff are required to have current certification in CPR and CPI, or to obtain training before receiving an assignment. Some staff have facility in languages in addition to English.

Our comprehensive range of staffing options will ensure the perfect match for your needs.

Child And Youth Worker (CYW)

Child and Youth Workers hold a diploma or degree that prepares them to work as mental health professionals with emotionally and behaviourally troubled children, adolescents and their families or guardians. They work in various settings, including family support positions, residential treatment centres, community-based programs, young offender programs, hospitals, school boards, and child abuse centres.

Child and Youth Workers are creative problem-solvers dedicated to helping young people and their families improve their quality of life. They are compassionate and sensitive listeners and communicators. But at the same time they are able to establish authority and to set limits and expectations.

Developmental Services Worker (DSW)

Developmental Services Workers earn a diploma or degree that uniquely prepares them to support people who have intellectual disabilities in the community. Their scope of practice includes working with parents, developing community networks, providing health support and locating community resources.

Developmental Services Workers blend analytical and critical thinking capabilities with patience and understanding to enable their clients’ participation in positive life experiences. They are highly regarded motivators, communicators, and team players who bring empathy for and appreciation of people with diverse abilities.

Early Childhood Educators (ECE)

Early Childhood Educators have diploma or degree preparation. These professionals work primarily, although not exclusively, with young children and their families, describing child development and devising suitable activities.

Early Childhood Educators are experienced with both traditional and innovative centres of activity. You will find their services in child care centres as well as drop-in centres, shelters for women and children, and parent resource centres.

Social Service Worker (SSW)

Social Service Workers are diploma graduates working with individuals, families, groups and communities. A major focus of their education and work is the promotion of social justice through community development. Their work settings include group homes, homes for the aged, shelters, community centres, treatment centres, youth employment services, crisis service centres, and welfare services.

Social Service Workers are caring, open-minded, creative, problem-solvers. Their success at managing stress and conflict is grounded in their respect for others and their excellent communication skills.

Personal Support Worker (PSW)

Personal Support Workers hold a certificate from a Community College or equivalent and possess the interpersonal and practical skills and judgment to assist with activities of daily living and home management. They provide care and assistance to the elderly and to people with disabilities, chronic or acute illness, or cognitive impairments.

Personal Support Workers are employed in long-term care facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, community living centres and in the home.

Registered Nurses (RN)

Registered Nurses are regulated health professionals with a diploma or degree, a broad scope of practice, and many areas of specialization. Nurses are patient advocates who work in the community, in hospitals and community health centres, in long-term care facilities – in fact, in any location where health care delivery, skilful practice, crisis intervention, and leadership are required. Nurses assess health status, develop plans of care, implement treatment plans and evaluate the results.

Registered Practical Nurse (RPN)

Registered Practical Nurses prepare and administer routine medications and treatments under direction, provide personal care and perform housekeeping duties.
